With a love for this beautiful ‘âina burning in her heart, Abby moved out to the big island of Hawai’i. She believes strongly that loving touch is a sacred gift that many of us no longer receive in this culture. All around the planet, in every culture, we will find some version of healing touch. This is an essential aspect to human health and connection. Not only is it wonderful for the body- the circulatory system, the lymphatic system, to release tension from the muscular system, and more- but it is also extremely healing for the mind, heart, and spirit. Massage, or lomi, is a gift to your entire being. It can bring awareness to parts of the self that still long for healing. Massage offers peace and allows a person to be held in the safe space of love and care. As my teachers have passed on to me, massage is a practice of unconditional Love. You, the client, arrive as you are in order to experience the love that you already ARE through the vehicle of healing touch. Gift yourself the very precious gift of Time and Space.
Abby discovered her love for the healing arts around the age of eighteen while she worked towards a degree in Anthropology and Native American Studies. As her interest in medicine and culture began to grow and merge, she incorporated certifications and healing into her college degree, putting focus towards Medical Anthropology. She began with Reiki, becoming certified in levels I and II. She also incorporated her interest in the ceremonial and healing traditions of various cultures around the world into her own personal life and into her growing love for healing. After finishing her degree and doing field work in Hawaii and on the Hopi, Zuni, and Navajo Nations, she went to Heartstone Herbal School. At herbal school she learned how to deepen with plants and the natural world. Directly afterward, she began her studies at the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, New York, where she graduated with 1000 hours of coursework and practice. Ithaca was a training ground for Abby to weave together many threads- the central axis and anchor of all of this work being her work with the HeartPath Institute, which was the classroom that continually reminded her to turn her healing work inward, utilizing meditation and inquiry. After moving to the island, she studied lomilomi with Aunty Maile Napoleon in Ka’u and continues her learning and growing every day.
